This lovely, unusual Clamshell Rose 4-inch design might look like appliqué but it is entirely hand pieced!
Print on fabric for better results than with acrylic templates and sew by hand or by machine.
Description
Print these unusual shapes on fabric for exciting Clamshell Rose 4-inch designs.
Piecing is simpler for many quilters than appliqué, especially because sewing this design with a running stitch (or by machine) ensures that the petals are all perfectly symmetrical.

This Clamshell Rose 4-inch PDF includes the shapes for flower blocks.
Why is it called 4 inches?
The name is Clamshell Rose 4 inch because it uses 4-inch Clamshells but you can use the shapes to make 8-inch, 9-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch, and 14-inch blocks—or even to make an entire bed quilt top with one “block.”
There are other Clamshell shape collections available, so you can buy exactly what you need. The 4-inch Clamshell and 4-inch Clamshell Edges are sold separately.
These bonus shapes allow you to make even more exciting designs for larger blocks.
Sewing with Inklingo is more fun because everything fits perfectly, presses well, and lies flat when you have matching marks on the curves and a line to sew along.
You can hand piece or machine piece the larger sizes.

There are wonderful opportunities for fussy cutting with TWO Inklingo methods and you can get perfect points (above) with Inklingo. The fine, precise lines printed on the fabric simplify the cutting and sewing. Why I don’t sell acrylic templates.
The Clamshell Rose 4-inch shapes are laid out to use fabric efficiently. Use a rotary cutter or scissors.
Love the lines. Quilt more!
Relax and sew! Spend your time sewing, not getting ready to sew. Print the cutting and stitching lines on scraps from your stash.
If you are new to Inklingo, I strongly recommend starting with the free Diamond Triangle Square shape collection. It includes the first chapter of The Inklingo Handbook and some great shapes to print on fabric to get you started.

This collection is fantastic! The addition of the melon and the outer edge shapes plus the bonus shape? They make the design possibilities seem endless with this collection! Curved piecing is not a challenge at all with Inklingo as the perfect matching points make it oh, so easy – and oh, so addictive to stitch these beautiful shapes!!
