System Requirements – Free Inklingo Quilt Studio and any ordinary Inkjet printer.

I originally designed the Clamshell Edges 3-inch shape collection to offer the 4 shapes to finish clamshell quilts with a straight edge—but it does so much more! Inspiration for new block designs is everywhere.
There are other Clamshell shape collections available, so you can buy exactly what you need. The 3-inch Clamshell and 3-inch Clamshell Sashing are sold separately.

Sewing with Inklingo is more fun because everything fits perfectly, presses well, and lies flat when you have matching marks on the curves and a line to sew along.

You can hand piece or machine piece the larger sizes.

Surprising Designs with Clamshell Edges
I originally designed the Clamshell Edges 3-inch shape collection to offer all of the 4-inch shapes to finish clamshell quilts with a straight edge—but it does so much more! There is inspiration everywhere for new block designs.
This lovely design by Claudia Chang was one of the Top 25 in the Love the Lines Contest in 2012. It uses Clamshell Edge shapes plus a 1.5-inch Square. (Suggestion: Search the blog for “contest” to see more amazing designs and for tips for using EQ.)
The preparation is so much simpler that you can spend extra time playing with new designs.
Pinterest is a wonderful source of inspiration for these partial clamshells.
There are wonderful opportunities for fussy cutting with TWO Inklingo methods, and you can get perfect points (above) with Inklingo. The fine, precise lines printed on the fabric simplify the cutting and sewing. Why I don’t sell acrylic templates.

The Clamshell Edges 3-inch shapes are laid out to use fabric efficiently. Use a rotary cutter or scissors.
Love the lines. Quilt more!
Relax and sew! Spend your time sewing, not getting ready to sew. Print the cutting and stitching lines on scraps from your stash.
If you are new to Inklingo, I strongly recommend starting with the free Diamond Triangle Square shape collection. It includes the first chapter of The Inklingo Handbook and some great shapes to print on fabric to get you started.
Bonus
Monkey says there’s a little something extra on the Clamshell – Main Page—more sizes, inspiration, tutorials, and info — even a video showing how to Rotary Cut Curves.

At least some of the cutting can be done with a rotary cutter (red lines above).
