It seems like a long time since I last updated the blog, but there has been a lot going on behind the scenes!
For one thing, the Shop on the website has been completely overhauled—over 100 pages have new text and images. It is re-organized, and the text is darker and larger. There is still some tweaking to do, but it should make it easier to find what you want.
Whew! It was a lot of work! (We do the work, so you can sew!)
I have also been working on a few BIG things, but by popular request, there are two small new shape collections for setting any 4.5 and 6 inch block “on-point.”
Set any 4.5 or 6 inch blocks on point!
This arrangement is easy to sew in diagonal rows. The effect can be amazing compared to setting the blocks in horizontal rows.
No math! No measuring!
Traditionally, the only tricky thing about on-point settings has been the math and measuring for accurate triangles for the edges. Some quilters avoid multiplying and dividing by 1.414 and measuring in 32nd of an inch. (No wonder!) Inklingo makes it easy.
The goal is to have straight grain on the edges. That means
- the Corners are Half Square Triangles (HST), which have straight grain on the two short sides
- the Edges are Quarter Square Triangles (QST), which have straight grain on the long side.
Inklingo does the math and measuring. You sew!
In addition to the triangles for the edges, each collection also includes a plain square and a square with an appliqué design and generous seam allowances—perfect for back-basting.
4.5 inch Square with Hearts
Back-basting makes symmetrical designs a breeze.
6 inch Square with Flower
The flower design is positioned perfectly when the square is turned on point.

With these Shape Collections, you can use any 4.5 or 6 inch squares, like Dear Jane™ blocks, Winding Ways, Yin Yang, Log Cabin, LeMoyne Star, Sunflower, and many others!

Yes, there is a simple way to start. The free shape collection includes everything you need to make a LeMoyne Star. It is simple to make step by step, but if you need something even easier, you can use the squares and triangles to make many different blocks, including Flying Geese, Hourglass Blocks, Sawtooth Squares, 9-Patches, 4-Patches and many others. That is a great way to start.

The shape collections must be downloaded and saved on your computer. They cannot be emailed to you. There are detailed instructions on the website, but if you need help, you can email me.

Hello do you have Star basic pattern for beginner’s ? not the feathered one too much for me, also can these get sent in the mail my computer does not have the right percentage too copy? thanx for the help Renee like the site very much
