1. WHAT IS INKLINGO?

Inklingo is a simple and economical way to save time and make better quilts by machine or by hand, pieced or appliquéed.

Inklingo uses digital files (PDFs) to print shapes on fabric with any ordinary Inkjet printer.

Inklingo replaces measuring tools and templates. It is so innovative it is patented!

When you print the shapes on fabric with Inklingo:

  • It simplifies the cutting
  • It simplifies the sewing.
  • It allows you to cut with scissors, or cut several layers at a time with a rotary cutter.
  • It allows you to make simple or complex designs more easily.

2. WHAT FABRIC CAN I USE?

Almost any cotton quilting fabric is suitable for Inklingo. When it is ironed to freezer paper, it goes through a printer safely, just like paper.

The 20 different colors of Inklingo ink which are used in the PDFs will show on almost any fabric and are likely to wash out completely. There are tips for dark fabric in The Inklingo Handbook and on the All About Inklingo blog.

Any ordinary Inkjet printer allows you to print “custom page sizes” to minimize waste, so Inklingo uses fabric very efficiently. In some cases, “combo layouts” allow you to use less fabric than with traditional methods.

3. WILL THE INK SHOW?

There is a simple test page with all 20 Inklingo ink colors, so you can test to be sure that the ink in your printer will wash out, and that a color does not show through the front.

LOVE THE LINES! QUILT MORE!

Yes, Inklingo is wonderful……fast, accurate, and fun!!! Wish I had known about it sooner ( first started using it in 2013) and wish there were more quilting hours in my day. But, with Inklingo, I can accomplish more in less time! – Betsy in MA on the blog

Just want to let you know how happy I am with the free download. I’ve watched all your videos (several times), read your site and your blog, and made 4 little 8 pointed star squares from your free pattern. I am so pleased that I’ve found this way to hand piece without all the prep work.  As someone else commented, I’ve been quilting for many years and I can’t remember when I’ve been this excited about a new (to me) technique! Table Runner by Birgitt with the free Inklingo shape collection

“I finished my first table runner using inklingo. I used fabrics, which I actually really didn’t like, in case the fabric would be messed up. But it wasn’t. My hubby was so surprised that I could print on fabric, you should have seen his face! Well, anyhow, I took the diamonds, triangles and squares everywhere, to the dentist’s waiting room, the hairdresser’s anywhere I expected to have to wait. And this is the result. As soon as I have finished some of my UFO’s, I’ll start inklingoing again!” – Birgitt in Germany 2016

Inklingo is my favorite tool for making quilting easy whether it is hand piecing or using the machine. Having the lines helps all blocks come together most accurately. It also simplifies the piecing process as to which pieces go where. In addition the handbooks give a multitude of ideas for future projects. Thanks for giving us all this help!

  2. Beth (verified owner)

There is such a wealth of information in the handbook. The fact it fits into a binder is really nice as I can easily add tips, pages from my collections, etc. to it and keep everything together in one place.

  3. Emily P (verified owner)

I recommend everyone purchase this handbook first! It is one of the best tools in using this innovative method of quilting. If I had bought it first I would have saved myself some stress. I think I made every mistake one could make. I ordered the printed manual and have it in it’s own binder. It is worth the investment!

  4. Sharon (verified owner)

Just wanted to let you know that I received my Inklingo Handbook. Absolutely love it…and Monkey you just brighten up the pages with your cute little self!!! Oh and thanks for the starter fabric square…love the color!!

  5. Jillian (verified owner)

I just love the Inklingo Handbook, there are so many tips that I reread it and continue to hone my skills. Your way of teaching, with so many detailed pics, is great. And the title is deceiving as it just doesn’t apply to using Inklingo–although I can’t think why anyone would use anything else anymore.

  6. Kay (verified owner)

This is a comprehensive resource that makes any Inklingo collection complete and doable, even for beginners. I thought I would never go back to any quiltmaking by hand, but with the help of the handbook, I now have projects galore for road trips.

  7. Kathy (verified owner)

The Inklingo Handbook is an invaluble reference tool. I would recommend that this be your first purchase!

  11. Lois (verified owner)

I would so recommend this handbook. I chose loose leaf as I wanted sections to review or have with me. Either way it is the contents that are so important. I think that if you read them thoroughly they will leave no questions in your mind as to how Inklingo works. There is much more contained in this handbook but I think rather than go on all day and I could, I will just say get it, read it and enjoy. I do love Inklingo. Lois

  12. Peggy (verified owner)

I ordered the Inklingo Handbook about a year ago and am amazed at the information it contains. I am constantly pulling it out of the bookcase to solve a problem I may be having with a project. Question answered and I’m once again on my Inklingo journey.

  13. Shirley J. (verified owner)

I received my handbook and read it cover to cover in one nite! So very well detailed with pictures and explanations that I know I (anyone!) can master this technique with ease and great confidence! Thank you, Linda for such a great experience in quilting. Now to start collecting all the shapes!!
