I added a bonus shape for anyone who wants to avoid an inset seam.

This shape collection is based on the Tulip Patch (Beyer 363-10). It was originally published by Alice Brooks on March 20, 1935—89 years ago—77 years before my friend was born!

Tulip Patch Quilt Block by Beginner

This beautiful Tulip Patch makes me smile. It is proof that it is possible for a motivated beginner who loves machine piecing on my Featherweight (Louise) to sew it well. The curves are gentle and a good challenge for a beginner.

My 12-year-old friend chose the fabrics. I love it! This little masterpiece only required a little help with the printing and pinning. There is an improvement on every seam. I wish I had a line to sew along and matching marks when I was learning!

Tulip Patch Combo Layouts

This block inspired the combos. Combo Layouts allow Inklingoists to print a variety of shapes on one sheet of fabric to save fabric and save time. Cool, eh?  I printed 3 sheets and had everything I needed for this block. There is straight grain on all the outside edges. Some seams by hand, some by machine.

Love the lines. Quilt more!
