Quilting to the rhythm

One of the advantages of working at home is that I can listen to music or a movie while I am sewing or working at the computer.

Do you remember this from 1965?

Monkey and I tweaked the original lyrics by Tony Hatch.

When you’re alone and life is making you lonely
You can always go – QUILTING
When you’ve got worries, all the COLOR and FABRIC
Seems to help, I know – QUILTING
Just listen AND MAKE STITCHES SO LITTLE ITTY BITTY
Linger OVER COTTONS where THE COLORS ALL ARE PRETTY
How can you lose?

YOUR MATES are SO FRIENDLY THERE
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares
So go QUILTING, things’ll be great when you’re
QUILTING – no finer TIME, for sure
QUILTING – everything’s waiting for you

Don’t hang around and let your problems surround you
There are FABRIC SHOPS –  QUILTING
Maybe you know some little places to go to
Where they never close – QUILTING
Just listen to the rhythm of a gentle bossa nova
You’ll be FEELING BETTER too before the night is over
Happy again

THE QUILTS ARE CREATED WHERE
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares
So go QUILTING, where all the lights look RIGHT
QUILTING – waiting for you tonight
QUILTING – you’re gonna be all right now

[Instrumental break]

And you may find somebody kind to help and understand you
Someone who is just like you and needs a gentle hand to
Guide them along

So maybe I’ll see you there
We can forget all our troubles, forget all our cares
So go QUILTING , things’ll be great when you’re
QUILTING – don’t wait a minute more
QUILTING – everything’s waiting for you

QUILTING, QUILTING, QUILTING, QUILTING, …

Petula Clark is still beautiful and still going strong. She will be 80 in November and listening to her reminds me of happy days.

Did you notice how the best 3 lines didn’t need any tweaking at all?

You know what I’ll be doing today and I’m cranking up the volume. I hope you’re singing along.

  3. LOVE this. What a wonderful way to begin the day.
The Tweak! is perfect. Now this tune will be stuck in my pea-brain for another decade or to. lol. Isn’t it strange how some tunes do that?

It’s amazing how well the lyric changes fit right in. Brilliant!

And the best three lines do indeed describe the inklingo sisterhood to a tee!

  6. Oh Linda, that was adorable. When I gave birth, the music and nurses were sing this song and delivering Michele. I do love that song.
