NEW Willyne Hammerstein’s Silent Garden

Willyne Hammerstein's Silent Garden

Happy Holidays!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on two new shape collections for Silent Garden.

“Work” meant I had to sew fussy cut stars into this wonderful new setting by Willyne Hammerstein—just to be sure every detail is perfect.

I love my job—even if I was working on Christmas Eve!

Now you can enjoy these shapes too.

New Inklingo Silent Garden Shape Collections

Special low price until Friday, January 5, 2018 only!

I posted this little slideshow on Facebook but it was only shown to a few hundred of the 44,000 quilters who have liked Inklingo.

You might be surprised to know that even when you have liked the Inklingo page on Facebook, Facebook will not necessarily show you what I share unless you choose to “follow.”

Also, it is a good idea to visit the Inklingo Facebook Page occasionally, if you don’t want to miss anything.

Silent Garden Star

It is impossible to pick a favorite. These are really simple and fast to sew.

LIVE VIDEO – FRIDAY NIGHT 7PM EASTERN
The first two live videos on Facebook were fun, so I’m doing another one.

I want to show you what I’ve been doing with the Silent Garden setting. I’m using 6-pointed fussy cut stars that I sewed several years ago.

Silent Garden Star

In the live video, I intend to share some “secrets” about printing on dark fabric, choosing the right layout of shapes to use the fabric efficiently, hybrid piecing, and at least one tip for using freezer paper.

You never know what will happen when it is “live.”

Silent Garden templates to print

Silent Garden is wonderful whether you print the shapes on fabric or on paper or freezer paper. There is a choice of layouts.

You do not need papers or acrylic templates with Inklingo, so it is less expensive AND easier to sew Silent Garden this way!

The instructions for Silent Garden are in Willyne’s beautiful Millefiori 3 book.

MORE VIDEO
In the meantime, you might want to watch the video on the Main Millefiori Page (under the Shop tab) showing how to sew Passacaglia with a running stitch. It also applies to Silent Garden and the other designs.

Introduction to Inklingo

If you have never used Inklingo, there is a VIDEO on the Welcome to Inklingo page on the website to help you start printing with the FREE shapes.

Snowy Garden

We have a snowy, silent garden in Canada and the neighbourhood is all lit up for Christmas. This is where I will be, Friday night, Live.

ARE YOU SUBSCRIBED?

I will save the live video to share here too. If you subscribe, you will get an email whenever there is something new.

I hope you will join us LIVE on Friday night. In the meantime, you can be having fun with Silent Garden too!

I am excited about doing another live video. I hope you will join in the fun.

  1. Hi Judy,
Sorry for the confusion. It is a 60 degree diamond in the center, NOT a hexagon. All of the illustrations are also diamonds but in some cases the fussy cutting of the design in the fabric creates the illusion of a center hexagon.

You can see the shapes for each size in the Shop.
    With 2 inch diamonds:
    https://www.inklingo.com/shop/millefiori-quilts/40/product/templates-for-silent-garden-quilt/222
With 3 cm diamonds (original size):

All of the shapes are different from anything in any of the other shape collections EXCEPT for the 2 inch diamond, which you don’t happen to have, so this would not be a duplicate for you.
If you have questions, please ask. I’m happy to help.

  2. I’m confused – the picture of the pieces in the new sets shows 60 degree diamonds for the center, BUT the diagrams of the blocks makes it look as if the center are made from a hexagon surrounded by 6 star points. Which is it?

Since I own the original Shape Collections 3 with the 3/4 inch hexagon and the star point, I would only need the auxiliary pieces. Have you considered this possibility? Or (even though it wouldn’t help me) the option of the auxiliary pieces for those who purchased the Shape Collection 1?

  3. Hi Kelly,
I thought you could go to my page to watch the live stream on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/inklingo/ – even without a Facebook account but some quilters have told me that doesn’t work. I’m sorry. If you try it, please let me know if it works. Otherwise, you will be able to watch the “encore presentation” but LIVE is more fun! I’m pleased that you are interested!

  4. Is a Facebook account necessary for watching the live show? I don’t have an account and don’t want one. Regardless, I’m grateful that you post the recordings here!

  5. Having these collections is fabulous! I have three sets of pretty kaleidoscope stars that were just sitting, waiting for inspiration to strike as far as a setting went. Now I know that two of them, for sure, will be turned into sparkling stars in a silent garden! The third will be an experiment as I used 1.25″ diamonds – the 3 centimetre size is not that much smaller, so I’m going to try to see if I can make that work for them. I made a test star just to try!
