Inklingo SIX Year Anniversary Gifts!

The first Inklingo shape collection was published SIX years ago—May 2006!

Inklingo has come a long, long way since that first CD.

Monkey seems to have decided that we will have a BIG celebration.

I’m not sure he has cleared this extravaganza with the CFO.

Oh, well. We’ll think about that tomorrow.

Today, we celebrate. You get the gifts.

1. Save $10 (TEN dollars!) when you buy The Inklingo Handbook

WOW.

When you buy The Inklingo Handbook (either bound or the popular loose-leaf), your receipt also includes a $10 Inklingo Coupon Code to use on your next Inklingo order!

No kidding! Nice gift, eh?

The Inklingo Handbook is a great resource, and should be in every quilter’s library. The first chapter about printing on fabric is so important it is included in one of the free shape collections. There are sample pages on the website too.

The chapters on Piecing (machine and hand), Appliqué, Pressing, and using pre-Inklingo patterns are designed to help you get the most out of the new methods that Inklingo makes possible.

The handbook is an incredible value with this offer. In effect, the $10 coupon means the handbook is less than $20! (We must be crazy.) Coupon details.

We have not decided yet how long this offer will last.

By the way, if you bought The Inklingo Handbook recently (in May), if you order an Inklingo download before July 24 and mention the anniversary deal in a comment on the order, I will manually apply a $10 coupon for you too.

2. Top Ten Tutes

We believe that the best gifts are homemade, so we made something too.

It’s a new page on the blog listing our Top Ten Tutes (tutorials). See the tabs above the blog header.

The blog is searchable, but what if you don’t quite know what you are looking for?

We think the new Tute summary is nice for everyone—newbies, long-time Inklingoists, designers, shop owners, and other Affiliates.

Since 2006

Printing on fabric with Inklingo has changed the lives of thousands of quilters in more than 60 different countries in the past 6 years.

  • We enjoy piecing by machine and by hand even more, because we know we will be thrilled with the results.
  • We enjoy appliqué more because the preparation is so fast and easy. We go straight to the fun part—the stitching.
  • We talk about “doing the inklingo,” inklingoing, and being an Inklingoist.

We make more quilts, sometimes designs we would have thought would be only for experts before.

We are more adventurous in our designs because we know we can make anything with the cutting and stitching lines printed on the fabric.

We buy more fabric and finish more quilts!

We download instantly anywhere in the world, including thousands of pages of shapes to print on fabric and 8 Design Books—Double Wedding Ring, Dresden Plate, Drunkard’s Path, Feathered Star, Hexagons, Storm At Sea, Sunflower, and Winding Ways so far.

We enjoy designing beautiful layouts using Electric Quilt, because we know that anything we design is actually something we can sew—and finish.

We learn and share with more than 1800 quilters in the Inklingo Yahoo Group.

We use up scraps and jelly rolls and use more of our stash than ever before!

We tell our friends about Inklingo and earn credit with the Affiliate Program.

6 Years from Now?

In 2018, my birthday falls on the holiday Monday again! LOL  I intend to use the photo of me at 5 years old on the blog again.

  • Pattern designers will expect most quilters to print on fabric with Inklingo.
  • Patterns and magazines will always include the finished sizes, no matter what method they teach.
  • Quilt Magazines will never need pull-out pages of templates!
  • Quilt Shops will demo and teach Inklingo as commonly as they teach rotary cutting now, and will earn as Affiliates. Inventory dollars will be spent on fabric instead.
  • Fabric manufacturers will sell more fabric than ever before, because quilters finish quilts faster with Inklingo. They will make even more dark fabrics that are light enough on the wrong side to print with one of the 20 colors. (You can print on many dark fabrics now.)
  • Online fabric sellers will describe dark fabric in terms of whether it is “inklingoable” (lighter on the wrong side).
  • Quilters will combine hand and machine piecing more often in “hybrid” quilts. (Hand for relaxation and portability, machine for speed.)
  • A Very Big Company will probably own the Inklingo Patent, and Monkey and I will have more time to make quilts.

In 2018, there will be more quilters than ever before, because Inklingo makes it easier and less expensive to get started, and easier and more exciting to keep quilting after an excessive number of birthdays.

Thank you for being an Inklingo quilter and for telling your friends about it.

From Day 1, you have been our best “advertisers!”

(If you aren’t an Inklingo quilter yet, you can change that in the next few minutes with the free shape collection. Quick Start Guide)

What’s Next?

You have requested hundreds of new designs, and we are doing our best to keep up.

I have a few more surprises up my sleeve.

We’ll be back soon, and we hope you will be too. If you don’t want to miss anything good, you can subscribe (right sidebar) to receive an email when we add something new.

Thank you for your birthday wishes on Monday, and for celebrating six years of Inklingo with us today.

Okay! I’m almost afraid to ask. What would you like to see next?

  1. Happy Birthday to Linda and Inklingo! I can’t believe it has been 6 years since you began this amazing adventure!
I have not tried Inklingo yet…I know…I need a new printer and have just not done it…but I try and keep up with the happenings! Thanks for doing so much to help so many with ease and accuracy. Tell Monkey that his new offer and all the past 6 years have really blown my dress up!

  2. Oups! Forgot to add–you ask what I would like to see. Well, I should like to see Dutch Puzzle so that the centre square could fit a 3 or 4″ picture label. I have quite the little collection of these, and made one Dutch Puzzle mini quilt, but, ah ça, arithmetic is not my strong point! How much easier it would have been to Inklingo it! I hope you consider this size, Linda and Monkey. Thank you! 🙂

  10. Linda, I loved your blog today. However, I’m not sure how I feel about a BIG company owning the Inklingo Patent. No one could pay as much attention to creativity and detail as you’ve been doing. I know you’d probably rather be quilting though; so we’ll keep our fingers crossed that the future holds the best for all!

  12. Happy Anniversary Linda and Monkey!! Inklingo has profoundly changed my quilting life – and I can never thank you enough. Inklingo is indeed the greatest invention since the rotary cutter and the self healing mat. Here’s hoping that ALL your predictions for the next six years will come true.
