Six-inch Blocks

I had intended to send this message yesterday—until I saw Bonnie Hunter’s Orca Bay Mystery Clue # 3 and decided to write about HST instead (yesterday’s tips).

There are happy quilters all over the world who are taking advantage of the Sudden Special Sale Prices and sewing a bazillion HST this weekend. (No waiting for anything to arrive in the mail!)

Monkey says they are having a whale of a time. <groan>

I’ve decided to send this today, just in case you have already finished Clue # 3 with Inklingo—and are ready for more design ideas!

A NEW PAGE ON INKLINGO.COM

There is a new page which shows how Inklingo shapes can be used to make a variety of six-inch blocks.

The page is not finished. In fact, there are still dozens of blocks to be added. I intend to add more illustrations as soon as I can, but in the meantime, there is enough to get you thinking.

Collecting pictures of all of the six-inch blocks together in one place is a new idea and I am open to suggestions. What else would you like to see?

Any of the blocks could be used in the quilt layouts for Square in a Square Quilts, which I showed you a few days ago.

OLD PAGES ON INKLINGO.COM

The “Shop & Freebies” tab and the Index of Shapes (under the Support tab) should still be your “Go-To” pages, but this new page is pretty—and maybe inspiring? (That’s for you to say!)

Let me know what you think, okay?

Click to go to the new page.

DO THE LINKY THING

If yoy have a blog and are inklingoing for Bonnie’s Orca Bay Mystery, she has invited you to “do the linky thing” on her blog. Please send a link, so more quilters will know how you sew.

Even if you don’t have a blog, you will want to visit Quiltville to see who has done the linky!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Hi Cathie,
I love searchable websites too! If you mean searching on the page for 6 inch blocks, you can do that now.
    Try this:
    Go to http://www.inklingo.com/section/6-inch-blocks/131
    Control F > Ohio
It will go directly to the Ohio Star block.
    Is that what you meant?
I love this keyboard shortcut (Control F) because it works on the web and in other programs like Adobe Reader too.
There is also a search box on the website above the header (top right).
    Go to http://www.inklingo.com
Type Ohio in the search box at the top.
It will direct you to Quarter Square Triangles 00B
Cool eh? It’s not perfect, but it works at least some of the time.
If you meant something else, please let me know, okay? Hugs, Linda & Monkey

  2. Great idea Linda. I am sure I can use this when I am in search of blocks or how to make a specific block using Inklingo. One thing I would suggest is to make it a searchable index? You know, you can type in a name and the block would “appear” LOL
Just one more thing to add to your list!
