Description

Ami’s Sisters quilt pattern is suitable for scraps and nickels. It includes suggested cutting layouts, worksheets, tips for hybrid piecing, pressing diagrams, and a quilting design.

This pattern was originally intended to use with Inklingo Shape Collection # 1 (sold out) to make quilts for the Alzheimer’s Quilt Initiative. AQI was founded by Ami Simms, a quilter I admire for many reasons.

Making a little quilt was a great way to raise money for a worthwhile cause. The blue and gold quilt (above) sold for $185 in an Alzheimer’s online auction in 2009.

Apology

Shape Collection # 1 is no longer available. I am sorry to disappoint anyone. I have decided to leave this pattern on the web site because many quilters do have the Inklingo # 1 CD or 60° Diamond 1 inch and can still use this pattern.

The Inklingo # 1 CD with all of the shapes is no longer available. However, if you have 1 inch 60° Diamonds you can print almost all  of the shapes—but not the half elongated hexagon. When a shape is not available from Inklingo, I recommend using Freezer Paper Templates in the manner taught in my Quilted Diamonds books. There are only 6 of this shape in this little quilt.

Auction Quilts had to fit into a flat rate Priority envelope from the US Post Office, without folding. They were small works of art, no larger than 9 x 12 inches.

Love the lines. Quilt more!

This pattern is suitable for beginners and experienced Inklingoists. You can hand piece or machine piece or combine hand and machine piecing in a hybrid.

This block is where I began with Inklingo. I was a true-blue beginner. My printer and I did not see eye to eye. After I read the manual about my problem, I was able to print on my fabric. I sewed my little star. Because the lines were perfect, the block was perfect. I am hooked!

This is wonderful. I’ve seen some great finished quilts with this pattern on the blog. Thank you so much for this pattern.
