templates for Bonnie Hunter's Celtic Solstice Mystery

This shape collection PDF includes all of the shapes for Bonnie’s Celtic Solstice Mystery (2013).

ABOUT THE SHAPES (You might already have them.)

Many of these shapes are available in other Inklingo shape collections. For example, Storm At Sea 9-inch includes all of these shapes except the parallelograms. Check the Index of Shapes under the Support tab to compare with what you already have.

The shapes in this collection are all very versatile, so you will find them useful for many other projects even after your mystery quilt is finished!

Bonnie’s mysteries are always fun. This time, Bonnie and I have worked together to make it even better by including more quilters!

“I have finished piecing my Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt. Turned out PERFECT thanks to you, Monkey, and Inklingo :-). You have made me a much, much, much better quilter. And I enjoy quilting much more now as well. Thanks again.” – Hannelore in MI

“I have just started using Inklingo for Bonnie’s Celtic Solstice which is my first mystery quilt and I wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your system! The dog ears and your written and video instructions are so well thought out and the cheat sheets are a great help as well.” – Vicki in BC, Canada

Will you sew the mystery?

Inklingo includes even more quilters. With the optional Inklingo shape collection, everyone can enjoy the fun this time!

  • Quilters who speed sew by machine.
  • Quilters who need some easy, portable hand piecing over the holidays.
  • Quilters who rotary cut for speed—without measuring!
  • Quilters who need or want to use scissors for whatever reason.
  • Quilters who work scrappy in order to use up a stash.
  • Quilters who want to use fresh new yardage.
  • Quilters who have never used Inklingo before.
  • Quilters who use Inklingo already but who want to learn new tips.

When you print the shapes on fabric with Inklingo, you do not need special rulers.

Just print, cut, and sew! (Or print, sew, and cut!)

This shape collection does not include instructions because it is a mystery. There is a separate, free PDF available for each clue. (Link from the tab above.)

Fabric Requirements

My fabric choices and Bonnie’s are good inspirations. You might find it easier to choose fabric if you see what we are using, so you can feel confident about your choices.

A Choice of Methods

You can sew some seams by hand and some by machine, thanks to the precise lines printed on the fabric.

“I am very happy to say that I have finally mastered the Inklingo technique and I am a happy, happy quilter. I have printed and cut all the pieces for Celtic Solstice (which I have re-named Celtic Equinox—since it won’t be done before spring). I am currently sewing my half square triangles together for pinwheels using sew the whole piece before cutting technique & I have to say I impressed the hell out of the quilters I sewed with on Thursday! Thanks again for your encouragement & for the very cool Inklingo system.” – Tish in Ontario

Love the lines. Quilt more!

As always, this set is wonderfully precise and easy to use. Thanks for the new design set!

Although designer Bonnie Hunter and Linda Franz collaborated on this collection for a specific quilt pattern, Bonnie’s Celtic Solstice, it offers many more options. The half square triangles and squares are common sizes that are used/ combined in many, many quilt blocks; the parallelograms and HSTs will make an 8 pointed star called Star of the Milky Way (finishes at 6 inches), etc., etc., etc. See Linda’s blog for highlights.

Oh, how I love this collection! Makes it easy to play along with the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt without having to buy some specialty rulers and be really good at precision rotary cutting.
Even better, the new shape – the parallelogram. That shape opens up loads and loads of design possibilities. I’ve already got two quilt designs planned with it. Now if only I could stitch as fast as I can think up ideas!
