I am so glad we’re doing the Quilted Diamonds challenges again!
It has been fabulous to re-connect with quilting friends from my Dear Jane and Quilted Diamonds days in the Austen-tatious Quilted Diamonds Group on Facebook.
Quilted Diamonds is what sparked the idea for Inklingo in the first place.
YOUR INPUT
You have probably already seen the Introduction to the Quilt-Along.
Your feedback will help me make sure you get what you want out of the group. I want to know what you think.
I have some questions today that you can use as a starting point.
ANSWER WITH A PHOTO?
If you are a member of the Austen-tatious Quilted Diamonds Facebook Group, please post a photo of one of your diamonds with your answers there.
If you are not on Facebook, you can leave a comment here or in the Inklingo IO Group (previously on Yahoo), or email me privately.
Your answers will help me make the Quilt-Along the best it can be. “This will be complete enjoyment.” (Emma)
QUESTION
Are you planning to make a big quilt, like Love & Friendship in Quilted Diamonds 1, or are you planning to use one of the settings in Quilted Diamonds 2, or . . .
QUESTION
. . . are you primarily interested in smaller projects, like Monkey’s Tote? “It was just occupation enough.” (Persuasion)
QD2 # 45 “Perfectly interesting in the eyes of all the ladies.” (Persuasion)
QUESTION
Is this your first experience with hand piecing? with Freezer Paper templates? Did you start sewing QD years ago?
Are you primarily interested in learning QD freezer paper techniques to use for other designs like any of the Millefiori Quilts or Lucy Boston quilts that are not Inklingo-able yet? Will you make a few diamonds before you decide?
The techniques for sewing and pressing in the QD books are just as important today as they were in 2002—and they all apply to Inklingo too because when shapes are not available from Inklingo (yet), freezer paper templates are always the next best thing.
“The object of her happiest thoughts.” (Pride & Prejudice)
QUESTION
Do you trace the diamonds from the book or do you print on freezer paper with Electric Quilt? Printing 4 x 7 or a different size?
By the way, several quilters have asked about the optional CDs that work with Electric Quilt software (EQ4 or newer).
The CDs have been available from the very beginning for $10. (Book $29.95, Book with CD $39.95).
The CDs are not sold in shops without the book but if you have a book and wish to purchase the related CD, please email me privately for instructions.
QUESTION
Are you planning something scrappy or just two or three fabrics?
QD2 # 5 “A pleasant drive home by moonlight.” (Mansfield Park)
QUESTION
Are you planning to make the diamonds in the size shown in the books? Are you interested in making the diamonds with different angles, like the ones in the Jane Austen Patchwork?
QUESTION
Are you familiar with Jane Austen through her novels or the movies? I use a lot of quotes from the novels and references to her! “This of course made everybody laugh.” (Sense & Sensibility)
QUESTION
Other than QD, do you use Inklingo to print shapes on fabric? Do you understand that Quilted Diamonds and Inklingo are different—-but with some overlap?
For example, Inklingo quilters sometimes use freezer paper templates and QD quilters can print with Inklingo for sashing and other shapes.
Are you a member of the Inklingo IO Group (previously on Yahoo) too?
For the Quilt-Along, we are using freezer paper templates but if you are interested in Inklingo too, please see the Main Beginner’s Page for more info about printing—and to get your first free shapes —and a free fabric sample in the mail, if you ask for it. (USA and Canada only)

Thank you for visiting. See you on Facebook?
Linda & Monkey
Hello again,
Thank you for answering so fast. No problem I understand it’s a lot to do, so no worries.
One every month is fine with me. I made the two blocks, I will try to post photos as soon as I can.
Have a great day tomorrow.
Thank you, Louise. I`m glad you`re sewing again.
Hello Linda,
I just joined the Yahoo group. I have one question, did you post the other blocks to be made or do we pick any one we like each week. I read all I could about the new QD quilt along. But I did not find the answer so I hope you can help me.
Thank you
Louise
Hi Louise, I`m glad you have joined us. I have only posted two diamonds so far (QD1 144, QD2 27) in the article on the blog for the Intro. If you have already done them or prefer others, you can substitute. I will try to post at least two (one from each book) two or three times a month. I cannot commit to doing it every single week. The set-up has taken some extra time for me but I expect it to smooth out soon. I would love to see photos of your diamonds!
