Inklingo Quilt Studio and a Pair o’ Ducks

I sometimes hear from quilters that they don’t want to spend more time on the computer.

That’s the paradox of the new Inklingo Quilt Studio.

(Monkey says “pair o’ ducks”… but he only has one 🦆)

An hour printing shapes on fabric can set you up for months of satisfying sewing time.

That’s what I want for myself.

When you start by printing precise shapes on fabric with perfect straight grain, everything fits.

You’re going to spend time cutting fabric either way.
You can follow a precise Inklingo line…
or flip a ruler around, peer at charts, guess about straight grain — and often trim again after sewing.

Just by the way, the developer of the new Inklingo Quilt Studio put his heart and soul into making it the best it could be.

He isn’t a quilter.

I’m almost afraid to tell him that success means you may not need to open the Studio again for months.

So the next time you print shapes, you might send Michele a good thought. He’s brilliant.

Inklingo takes less time at the computer than you might think.

You can start by downloading and opening the Studio now.

  1. I have used Inklingo since shape collections came on CDs. I don’t use it for everything, but when I want to do something complicated (at least for me), like one of the Fancy Pieced Dresdens, I use Inklingo. The new Studio is great and makes printing so much easier, as long as I remember which edge of the freezer paper to use for landscape! 🙂

Not only is Inklingo great, but so is LInda. She has always been helpful whenever I had a question or problem. Customer service at its finest.

  2. I remember being afraid to try to print out a sheet! Linda just as you have said it really is simple. Follow the guidelines. Just print one sheet. Cut the pieces out and stitch them together either by machine or by hand.
I used to do hand marking pieces for hand piecing, no more.
    Thanks Linda and monkey

  3. Inglingo is the most wonderful invention for making the most accurate piecing of quilts that’s ever been invented. I’ve used it since 2008. Linda and Monkey are so helpful. The new Studio looks wonderful.

    • Thank you, Jeannette. I remember when you suggested the School House shape collection for Maddie. You have been here all along and that makes me happy.

  4. I got into Inklingo when my friends were doing paper piecing of the
La Passacaglia (sp?) several years ago. I love working on the individual motifs. I have printed pieces and tools arranged in a plastic storage box so I can take it when we travel. No pesky papers or plastic templates to get lost. Best investment ever!

  5. Absolutely love Inklingo.
The precision and ease to customize my projects with such little waste are only 2 things I love about it.

Huge game changer in my confidence trying more complex quilt blocks.

My first time printing was about 10 years ago and I still love it!!

  6. I discovered Inklingo when I was making my first quilt by hand. I wanted to do handwork because I really needed relaxation! I prepared my patches by tracing around templates cut from template plastic. I used a regular mechanical pencil because fabric pencil lines were too thick. My fabric was on sand paper. My templates were sliding. The pencil lines were not always easy to see. And it took SOOOOO long, and it wasn’t relaxing at all. The fun part, hand piecing was done very quickly, and then I had to do more tracing. I hated it. So I went looking for a better way. I saw stamps, perforated paper and powder, and then….INKLINGO!! It was better than I could have hoped for, even considering the fact I hate ironing.

Preparation time is SO SHORT! And most of it is not even spent behind the computer. I think it has always been a very very very great trade-off. I am so thankful this exists. Trading a little computer time for avoiding measuring and cutting mistakes. For the option to cut sitting down instead of cutting standing up. For the option to switch between machine work and hand work as I like on one project. For perfectly fitting pieces, for no frustration.
And now it has become even easier!! I think Michele deserves a quilt with pink rectangles in custom sizes!! 🙂

    • I love your reaction, Annika! Many quilters have written to me privately, but I hope other quilters will see this. Thank you for leaving this comment.

  7. Perhaps we need to make Michele a quilt in thanks? Because he has certainly contributed to making Inklingo even more accessible and easier than ever! And I, for one, am very grateful!!
