Willyne Hammerstein’s Midnight Fireworks

Midnight Fireworks Quilt in Millefiori Quilts

SEW MIDNIGHT FIREWORKS WITH INKLINGO!

When quilters saw Willyne Hammerstein’s stunning Midnight Fireworks in Millefiori Quilts (the first book), of course they asked for the Inklingo shapes—and Quiltmania graciously agreed.

Inklingo for Midnight Fireworks is in the Shop now!

Inklingo for Midnight Fireworks

Willyne’s Midnight Fireworks looks complex but it only uses 5 shapes!

The new Inklingo Midnight Fireworks shape collection does not include instructions. The instructions are in Willyne’s beautiful Millefiori Quilts book. Thank goodness it is available again!

There are also a few Inklingo lessons which you may find helpful for this dramatic design:

Midnight Fireworks with Inklingo

For this block, I printed the diamonds with Inklingo No Waste Fussy Cutting and sewed with a running stitch, using the technique for inset seams and curves in Quilted Diamonds 2 (book and DVD). If you are learning to hand piece, the two-hour lesson on DVD is what you have been looking for!

I am going to sew my next Midnight Fireworks block by machine by adapting the method for machine piecing a LeMoyne Star. Stay tuned for machine tips next time, okay?

Midnight Fireworks Quilt

I loved working on Midnight Fireworks! Printing on fabric with Inklingo makes it possible to sew this design by hand with a running stitch, by machine, or with English Paper Piecing (EPP).

Midnight Fireworks with Inklingo

Midnight Fireworks shows off the advantages of Inklingo, including printing on dark fabric! Combo layouts allow you to save fabric and save time. And of course, you know how much I love fussy cutting!

No templates! No measuring!

FACEBOOK VS THE BLOG—ARE YOU SUBSCRIBED?

I post a photo or two on Facebook almost every day. It is usually about quilting, but sometimes it is something happening at Inklingo Home Office. I love to share photos of your Inklingo blocks too!

You do NOT have to have a Facebook account to see what I post there if you go directly to
https://www.facebook.com/inklingo

However, Facebook only shows my photos to about 20% of the quilters who have “liked” the Inklingo Facebook Page, so the best way to stay up to date is to subscribe to the blog (top of right sidebar).

If you are on Facebook, please post photos of your Inklingo blocks on my page and please “like” and “comment” and “share” my photos. It makes it more fun for everyone.

  1. This is SO exciting! I agree with Donna – this is a much easier design to think about doing now that it’s an Inklingoable one! This really has it all – potential for fabulous effects with fussy cutting/printing, dramatic look, lots of continuous stitching and curved piecing. What more could we possibly want?

  2. Gorgeous Gorgeous GORGEOUS!!! Thank you for Inklingoing this pattern. It is a bit easier (OK, a lot easier) than Passacaglia quilt pattern, and I think it’s got so much more potential too. Your fabric choices here are stunning!

Now that it’s Inklingoable, and no partial blocks are needed, I think I can dive in with no reservations. Love the secondary fussy-cut design you can get with the corners too.
