Description
Quilters switch from acrylic templates to Inklingo for many reasons.
- use a rotary cutter or scissors
- precision corners make the sewing easy
- sew the curves by hand or by machine
- press the shapes in a surprising way that works like a dream!
- perfect for fussy cutting and scrappy quilts
- see Beyer 421-2 and Beyer 421-3 (with circles)
- add circles from another shape collection for a variation called Morning Glory
- an unusual, old design that will impress everyone!
- optional back-basting layout with wide seam allowances
- tips for choosing fabric
- design notes
- worksheets to plan your quilt
I prefer to piece this design, but some quilters prefer appliqué, so the shape collections also include back-basting layouts to print on fabric, and shapes without seam allowances to print on freezer paper for appliqué templates.
Joseph’s Coat is an old design. It is 421-2 in Jinny Beyer’s Quilter’s Album of Patchwork Patterns. This design was published with several different names in the 1930s. You might see similar designs called Ace of Diamonds, Banana, Orange Ring, Peeled Orange, or Queen’s Choice.
