Les Fruits de Mer is one of my favorite designs by Willyne Hammerstein in Millefiori Quilts 4. (Photo courtesy of Quiltmania.)

Les Fruits de Mer translates to “Seafood” in English.

SEAFOOD MUSIC

Just in case you are wondering, YES, I found appropriate music for Seafood.

When I introduced the shape collections for other designs in Millefiori Quilts 4, each had a suitable musical accompaniment—La Bamba for Fiesta Gitana, Chapel of Love for Confetti, The Lady is a Tramp for Swinging Old Lady, Johnny Cash with You Are My Sunshine and Did you ever have to make up your mind? for Last Flowers.

Les Fruits de Mer is special, so—as you would expect—I put a lot of thought into the right music for Seafood and decided on a special sauce from a brilliant and talented Canadian.

Ah ha! Frim Fram Sauce is perfect on Seafood.

I hope you rock your shoulders (sitting) or swing your hips (standing) while I show you Les Fruits de Mer.

All that mesmerizing fussy cutting!

It looks very elaborate but it only uses 4 shapes!

Inklingo Fussy Cutting

This is another design that is perfect for Inklingo No Waste Fussy Cutting OR Inklingo Traditional Fussy Cutting.

UPDATE  I included very detailed instructions for two methods of fussy cutting in the new hardcover book, Winding Ways – Quilting the Inklingo Way. All of the info about fussy cutting, hand and machine piecing, and fabric requirements in my new book is useful for ANY pieced design. I recommend it to everyone, so I hope you will have a look.

Quilt Obsession Fiesta Gitana

If you need proof, Cathi’s Fiesta Gitana blocks are amazing.

There are more. Go look. I’ll wait.

sew with a running stitch

HAND PIECING WITH A RUNNING STITCH

As you know, Willyne teaches hand piecing with a running stitch, not English Paper PIecing, as I originally thought.

On the other hand, there are 8 Good Ways to Use Inklingo for EPP if that is the method you prefer.

Print on fabric or paper with Inklingo

As usual, there is a choice of layouts to print on fabric (20 colors) or on paper or freezer paper.

Quilted Diamonds 2 with DVD lesson

Quilted Diamonds 2 is a great way to learn about hand piecing, especially because it includes a two-hour DVD lesson.

Millefiori Quilts 4 $39.95  INTRO SALE $39.95

Willyne’s assembly instructions for 19 designs are included in this one—but you don’t need acrylic or papers for Les Fruits de Mer. (Why I don’t sell acrylic templates.)

Millefiori Quilts Books

Millefiori 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all in stock and ready to go. Two books in one flat rate envelope to keep the postage as low as possible (no handling fee either).
