Sewing Springtime Quilt Blocks

Saturday is Russ’s favorite day of the week.  I’m working on a long To-Do List.

It’s a good list and includes watching hockey and sewing Springtime quilt blocks with Russ (sweetheart) and Louise (Featherweight) and Monkey (monkey) tonight.

I hope it is a favorite day for printing and sewing at your house too.

Print on fabric with Inklingo

When you print the shapes on fabric with the new Springtime shape collection . . .

Sewing Springtime Quilt Blocks

. . . . it is a dream to sew by machine (or by hand), with or without inset seams.

Inklingo matching marks

The blocks also press beautifully and the matching marks (printed with Inklingo) create an opportunity to assemble the quilt top with no bulky intersections anywhere. (I love it.)

Springtime Sewing and Pressing Guide

As usual, we prefer to press the seam allowances to the side, as described in the one-page sewing and pressing guide, which is included in the shape collection. (Monkey loves it.)

I take an extra step to arrange the F/G shapes on the outside edges of each block to avoid bulky intersections as described on pages 15 and 16.

Springtime Quilt Layout

The easiest way for me to do this is to start with two printouts of the quilt layout. I cut up one printout with every block numbered showing its position in the quilt from 1 to 25.

I want to avoid bulky intersections., so all of the blocks marked with a 2 in the quilt layout are identical EXCEPT FOR the placement of the F/G shapes.

Sewing Sets of Springtime Quilt Blocks

I complete all the blocks in the set labeled as 2 BEFORE adding the F/G shapes and labeling each one with the block image to guide the placement in the quilt top.

sewing with Louise Featherweight

Thanks to the matching marks, I know everything will line up perfectly in each block and in the quilt top.

If printing is on your To Do list today, you can do it with Willie and me.

One, two, one, two, three, four

On the road again

Print on fabric now
Just can’t wait to Inklingo shapes again
The life I love is making more quilts with my friends
And I can’t wait to Inklingo shapes again

On the road again

Print on fabric now
Making quilts that have never been
Printing shapes that I can piece or appliqué
And I can’t wait to Inklingo shapes today

On the road again

Print on fabric now
Like a bunch of techies printing custom sizes
Freezer paper friends
Testing ink on fabric for Inklingo, eh
And our way

Is on the road again

Is to print shapes again
I just can’t wait to Inklingo shapes again
The life I love is makin’ more quilts with my friends
And I can’t wait to Inklingo shapes again

Springtime quilt block

Harmonica and Inkjet Interlude

On the road again

Print on fabric now
Like a bunch of techies printing custom sizes
Freezer paper friends
Testing ink on fabric for Inklingo, eh
And our way

Is on the road again

Is to print shapes again
Just can’t wait to Inklingo again
The life I love is makin’ more quilts with my friends
And I can’t wait to Inklingo shapes again
And I can’t wait to Inklingo shapes again

Snow scene

And I can’t wait for spring to come again
And I can’t wait for spring to come again

Winter has come too early this year. We all need a little Springtime.
