Quilt Obsession is a pattern company!

Please imagine a long, dramatic drum roll . . .

. . .

. . .

. . .

A dear friend and special Inklingo quilter has made the leap from stitcher to pattern designer!

Cathi Godwin at Quilt Obsession is now officially a pattern designer with her own website and shopping cart. Her first pattern is inklingoable—of course!

This has been a long time coming. Cathi has been designing and making quilts with Inklingo since the very first shape collection in 2006.

 FREE Pattern 2009

She designed and made Emma’s Butterfly Stars for Shape Collection # 1 and offered it as a free pattern on the Inklingo site.

Cathi is almost always the first quilter to sew the shapes and make something when a new Inklingo Shape Collection is announced.

Cathi also maintains a PDF version of the Inklingo Index of Shapes, and has made many great suggestions over the years. She was the first to request Clamshell shapes.

She has probably sewn more Inklingo shapes together than anyone else.

At first glance, Cathi’s Tumbler Stars (above) for the Tumbler Shape Collection does not look like a tumbler quilt. Cathi has a talent for seeing different ways of using shapes.

Inklingo—and the wonderful feedback from her blog followers—encouraged Cathi to take her design talent to the next level.

WHAT IS THE NEW PATTERN?

You will have to visit Cathi’s new website to see what she chose for her first pattern on her own website.

I will give you a hint: If you are looking for a portable project, but want something more rare and beautiful than the usual shapes, this is for you!

Cathi gave me a sneak peek at her instructions. Her pattern is very professional. If you liked Cathi’s free patterns, you will absolutely love her new one. The illustrations and detailed directions are excellent.

There is much more detail than there is in many patterns. It is downloadable too, so you can have it right now!

  Smudge

If you follow Cathi’s Quilt Obsession blog, you know prolific she is with Inklingo, and you know Mr Q O and her beloved cat Smudge.

When you visit Cathi’s fresh, pretty new website, be sure to see the photo of Cathi under Contact Me. It is my favorite.

You can see the official announcement on her blog here. We’ll have to ask her why she buried such a big, important announcement in the second paragraph!! Monkey and I want to shout it from the rooftops!

  1. Wow! Congratulations Cathi!
I just went over to your new website and purchased the Chintz Circles pattern — it was easy! Payment and downloading went off without a hitch.

I must say, I was only expecting the usual pattern (you know, being printed on two sides of one 8.5 x 11 piece of paper folded in half), but I was really blown away with the 12-PAGE Inklingo-able pattern I got (instantly! by the way)!

I have never seen a pattern so well integrated with Inklingo, and I think there should be a lot more of these. (Are you listening Cathi?) I have the Orange Peel Deluxe Inklingo Collection already, so I can start right in. One of my favorite quilts that I used for years on our bed is this pattern, and the quilt had to be retired from years of use. So this is perfect!

The Chintz Circles pattern instructions are clear, the pictures and diagrams are wonderful and helpful, and there are useful tips for the Inklingo side as well as for organizing the fabrics, hand piecing, stitching order, pressing–even a suggested way to quilt it!

I love the inclusion of Monkey’s Cheat Sheet too – where it includes fabric requirements for using Yardage or, if using scraps, the amount of each color needed for one block (and the FP size too)!

If only all patterns can be Inklingo-able, and this precise and clear! Thank you, Linda, for announcing this! Thank you, Cathi, for finding a way to have patterns downloadabe from your new site! I hope to see more of these from you.

Why can’t every pattern be Inklingo-able??
    🙂

  2. You left out the most important encouragement I received – which was from you! Were it not for Inklingo and the encouragement I received from you, this would likely never have happened!!
