NEW Clamshell Rose and Clamshell Edges

Inklingo Clamshell Edges 4 inch

CLAMSHELL EDGES 4 INCH

When I published the new Clamshell shape collections last month, I promised to create an “Edges” shape collection. (We did that years ago for Clamshell 3 inch.)

It is ready now! Clamshell Edges 4 inch

Clamshell Quilt Block

The edge shapes are perfect for finishing the edges of a quilt—of course—but they can also be used for other designs, like this one.

Of the four new sizes of Clamshell announced in September, the 4 inch was by far the most popular. If enough quilters request them, I will do Edges shape collections for the other sizes too.

However! This one is a surprise!

The more I played with the shapes, the more addicted I became! And Clamshell Petals, Clamshell Flower, Clamshell Garden, Clamshell Rose was born!

Just adding one melon shape created some amazing possibilities! I could not help myself. It kept growing and growing!

One thing led to another and another and another.

There are more examples on the website Shop page for Clamshell Rose 4 inch.

You can make 8 inch, 9 inch, 10 inch, 12 inch, 14 inch and larger blocks with these shapes!

I also added a bonus shape, suggested by Jeannette Holland and Fiona Monclova.

I have more to say about the lovely possibilities with these new shapes, but I think you want to visit the Main Clamshell Page and start playing yourself!

UPGRADE?

I have emailed everyone who bought Clamshell 4 inch recently, just in case they would like to upgrade to Clamshell Rose 4 inch. The instructions in that email make it easy but let me know if you have questions.

The new shape collections have been added on the Main Clamshell Page (under the Shop tab).

Thank you so much for keeping Inklingo so alive. I think we would be lost without you.

  3. Clamshell Rose is going to become my favourite, I think, even surpassing Yin Yang! I love the possibilities the shapes in Clamshell Rose offer us with nothing but more and more of that lovely curved piecing! I’m so glad you kept playing with the shapes and this new collection was created! Having the edges for the 4″ clamshell is great as those half clamshell shapes are favulous to play with – I remember making a few blocks with the 3″ half clamshell pieces ages ago.
I would love to see clamshell edges for the 2″ size and the 6″ size.
