Pieced Hexagons! We love them, don’t we?
<drum roll> There’s a new size today!
Several quilters requested 7/8 inch hexagons and diamonds. We listen.
7/8 inch = 0.875 inch
All of the designs I am showing today can be made in several sizes, using matching sizes of diamonds (and parts) and hexagons (and parts).
If the diamonds and hexagons are the same size, they fit!
- Use 0.5 inch 60º Diamonds and 60º Hexagons together.
- Use 0.75 inch 60º Diamonds and 60º Hexagons together.
- USE NEW 0.875 inch 60º Diamonds and 60º Hexagons together.
- Use 1 inch 60º Diamonds and 60º Hexagons together.
- etc.
You can make at least 300 Pieced Hexies with just 8 Inklingo shapes!
The choices are summarized in 300 Pieced Hexagons under the Shop & Goodies tab on the website. (You are on the blog now.)
NEW TODAY!
How do you know what other sizes are available?
All of the 60° shapes are listed in several places on the website, especially under the Shop & Freebies tab:
- Main Hexagon Page
- Main Diamond Page
- Main 60° Shapes Page
- 300 Pieced Hexagons
- Index of Shapes (under Support & Goodies)
Cross-referencing is my life! It really cuts into my sewing time.
With just two shape collections (matching sizes of diamonds and hexagons), you can sew at least 56 of the designs in 300 Pieced Hexagons!
Sorry, we lost count!
With the new shape collections, the Pieced Hexagon examples (above and below) have 1.75 inch sides (finished size) and are 3.5 inches across the middle from point to point.
Inklingo Diamond and Hexagon shape collections include the partial shapes too, like this “half diamond” (triangle) so they are even more versatile!
Print a variety of shapes on scraps to mix and match.
No basting, no measuring. Just print, cut and sew.
Easy, portable, fast!
You can see how we sew these shapes with a running stitch in the videos on the Main Hexagon Page.
A running stitch is the easiest, most precise, most portable method but if you prefer English Paper Piecing (EPP), there are 8 Good Ways to Use Inklingo for that too.
The design possibilities are endless! In fact, 300 Pieced Hexagons includes 336 designs and we could have added more.
FACEBOOK VS THE BLOG—ARE YOU SUBSCRIBED?
I post a photo or two almost every day on Facebook.
You do NOT have to have a Facebook account to see what I post there if you go directly to
https://www.facebook.com/inklingo
However, Facebook only shows my photos to about 20% of the quilters who have “liked” the Inklingo Facebook Page, so the best way to stay up to date is to subscribe to the blog (top of right sidebar).
If you are on Facebook, please “like” and “comment” and “share” my photos. It makes it more fun for everyone.

Thank you so very much for the 7/8 hexagon! Now I don’t have to do it with English paper piecing. I guess thats why I never started the quilt I dreaded the fact dealing with all thoes papers!
Yea! More diamonds and hexagons – diamonds are, after all, a quilter’s/girl’s best friend, as are hexagons. It’s going to be fun to make a few little stars quickly — with some fussy printing/cutting, of course!
Hey Linda and Monkey,
This is great news, this will allow us to create new amazing
blocks.
Thank you for all your hard work.
