Inklingo for Beginners

Inklingo for Beginners – Welcome!

I send a Welcome email to every new Inklingo quilter, but sometimes it is filtered into junk/spam, so this is the online version.

Introduction to Inklingo
This short video (above) explains how Inklingo works.

I always recommend starting with at least two FREE PDFs from the Main Beginner’s Page.

If a quilter doesn’t order those two, I add them manually.

Whenever I manually add a PDF for you, it is available in your account under the heading New For You at the top of the right-hand column where it says “Please click here to begin.”

I have been tweaking my Welcome email for years, adding and removing and updating. If you have suggestions, please let me know!  Mail to Linda

Welcome to Inklingo!

I want to make it as easy as possible for you to join tens of thousands of quilters in more than 65 countries who print shapes on fabric with Inklingo and their Inkjets.

Please log into your account on the website to download and save each PDF on your computer. Then open Adobe Reader and then open each PDF. (Any other PDF viewer will not work.) There are complete illustrated instructions with an 84 second video.

I always recommend starting with the Diamond Triangle Square shape collection ($20 value) because it includes the first chapter of The Inklingo Handbook (pages H5 – H48) and some great shapes to print on fabric.

The short video (above) includes my best tips for preparing fabric sheets to print.

Please follow a step by step example using the free Diamond Triangles Square shape collection to print

I have drawn the layouts of shapes so you can print them. It is as simple as possible.

The instructions are written for the free shape collection because everyone has it and it works the same way for any other shapes! One method for ANY quilt.

I am a quilter too and I am happy to help, so you can enjoy using this amazing too. Inklingo is the quilting tool we’ve always wanted.

Let’s stay in touch!

Inklingo Test Page

THREE IMPORTANT IDEAS

The video at the top of this page explains the 3 key ideas that make Inklingo work.

(1) There is a test page for the ink.

(2) The pages are 13 x 19 but we use an ordinary 8.5 inch wide printer, because

Custom Page Sizes

(3) we print Custom Page Sizes to get exactly the number of shapes we need without waste.

We never print the whole 13 x 19 inch page. I never use my wide-format printer for Inklingo.

FREE LESSONS
When you are ready, there are short lessons on the blog under the tab Top Ten Tutes. They include topics like:

  • how to print a test page
  • how to print on small scraps
  • how to avoid jams
  • how to print on dark fabric
  • how to fussy cut
  • and more!

You can look at those tutes (tutorials) in any order. The blog is also searchable. All of the clues for Inklingo Mystery Quilts are available on the blog to help you go step by step.

I sometimes hear from quilters who say they were “over-thinking it” and wish they had just started printing sooner.

Print on fabric or on paper

Learn to print on fabric with the free shape collection and then you will be ready for hexagons or any other shapes.

The steps are the same, so you only have to learn one simple technique to make any quilt.

“Today I actually printed on fabric. It is great! My husband is more than surprised that printing on fabric comes out so neat. I’m reading your newsletter/blog and love it.” –  Birgitt in Germany
