Templates for Fiesta Gitana in Two Sizes

There are two new Inklingo shape collections with the templates for Fiesta Gitana from Willyne Hammerstein’s Millefioi Quilts 4. Print, cut and sew!

Fiesta Gitana Willyne Hammerstein

Fiesta Gitana is the exuberant quilt on the cover of Willyne’s lush new book, Millefiori Quilts 4. (Photo courtesy of Quiltmania.)

Isn’t this fabulous? Does it make you want to twirl and dance—and quilt?

The name of this riotous design translates as Gypsy Party from Spanish.

Part of the magic of Willyne’s appeal is the international flavor—The Netherlands (Willyne), Italy (“millefiori”), England (Roger Penrose, the mathematician who inspires Willyne), France (Quiltmania), Canada (Inklingo), and for me this time, the ebullient Latin American music of a gypsy party (Fiesta Gitana).

Your choice of exuberant Gypsy Party dance music may be different from mine. Canadian, eh.

Somehow, the genius of Williyne Hamemrstein created this swirl of color with only 4 shapes:

I knew some of you would want a larger size.

The squares in the original size are 3 cm (1.18 inches) and the squares in the larger size are 4.5 cm (1.77 inches).

PRINT ON FABRIC OR ON FREEZER PAPER

As usual, both Inklingo shape collections include layouts to print on fabric or on paper or freezer paper.

Like the other Millefiori designs, there are wonderful opportunities for continuous stitching by hand and chain piecing by machine. New Hybrid Piecing Video (All of my tips for Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses also apply to Willyne’s designs.)

Printing the shapes on fabric with Inklingo makes the preparation fast and precise.

NO ACRYLIC, NO PAPERS

Of course, you need this beautiful book for the assembly instructions—but you don’t need acrylic or papers.

Why I don’t sell acrylic templates. My mission is to make quilting more accessible.

All four of Willyne’s books are in stock. Main Millefiori Page

Millefiori Quilts 4 is at a low intro price of $39.95.

For Priority shipping in USA, you pay what I pay. No handling fee. I can squeeze two books in one envelope.

As you know, Willyne teaches hand piecing with a running stitch.

Printing the shapes on fabric with your Inkjet makes the preparation faster AND more precise than with any other method.

1. MUSIC VIDEO – SHAKE IT UP WITH LA BAMBA
I highly recommend listening to some Latino dance music while you plan the beautiful gypsy colors and fussy cuts for your Fiesta Gitana.

Ritchie Valens’ La Bamba did it for me. I can just see you dancing in your sewing room. (Russ came in to see what was going on.)

Los Lobos can shake it up too.  Rockin’ my shoulders at the keyboard. LOL

2. QUILTING VIDEO – FUSSY CUT WITH INKLINGO (NO DANCING)
You might want to watch my new video series too. The info for Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses also applies to Fiesta Gitana, especially Part 2 for fussy cutting.

There are more videos on the Main Millefiori Page under the Shop tab too. None with dancing.

IMPORTANT
A few quilters have requested Inklingo shape collections for some of the other designs in Millefiori Quilts 4. Please let me know which quilts you want to make next! The most requested ones will come first. Leave a comment, so others can see what you request. Or Linda @ lindafranz.com.

I hope you are listening to something with a lot of rhythm and swing, like the quilt.

Thank you for visiting. Let’s have a Gypsy Party!

  2. These collections are fantastic!!! Choosing the fabrics is going to be such fun!!

There are many quilts in Millefiori Quilts 4 for which I’d love to see Inklingo collections and they are, in no particular order:

    A Christmas Carol
    Joie de vivre
    The Late Bloomers
Last Flowers After A Hot Summer
Raindrops Are Falling on my Head
    Confetti
Jeu de boules (larger size could be made using shapes from Can Can, I think)
When You Got the Blues, Take it Easy
Allegria (I know it’s a lot of shapes, but it is a stunning quilt so I absolutely had to add it to my list)
