REQUESTED BY Inklingoist Cathi Godwin

Cathi asked for these shapes so she could make The Keyboard Patchwork from The Patchworks of Lucy Boston, the wonderful book by Diana Boston.

This download does not included instructions. Cathi is making her own version of The Keyboard Patchwork by following the photo of the quilt in Diana Boston's book.

The Keyboard Patchwork

I love fussy cutting! Four of the octagons in this block are "fussy printed" with Inklingo (video).

USE SCRAPS, NICKELS, JELLY ROLLS OR YARDAGE

The shapes are laid out to use fabric efficiently. You can rotary cut several layers at a time, as described in The Inklingo Handbook. Since the lines are printed on the fabric, you can use scissors, if you prefer.

Use these shapes with any pattern.

Octagon quilts are relatively rare compared to hexagons. With Inklingo you can print hundreds of shapes quickly and sew from crosshair to crosshair with a running stitch. The fine, precise lines printed on the fabric simplify the cutting and sewing.

Love the lines. Quilt more!

Cathi has probably printed, cut, and stitched more Inklingo shapes than anyone else, and she blogs about Inklingo regularly on Quilt Obsession. She has also been the hostess for several Inklingo swaps, and designed and wrote the free pattern for Emma’s Butterfly Stars.
