Diana Boston's descriptions of the patchworks are insightful and poetic. The book was written with love for Lucy Boston and includes wonderful stories about the inspiration for her patchworks, her fabric purchases in wartime England, references to the patchworks in her letters, historical background, and her life story.
Each of the twenty-two quilts is shown whole and with details. The photography by Julia Hedgeco is beautifully displayed.
I am very pleased to recommend this book and to offer it on my web site for quilters who are unable to visit Hemingford Grey in England in person, or who find it more convenient to purchase in North America. This is one of my all-time favorite quilt books, even without patterns!
This is a soft cover edition of Diana Boston's original book (below, hard cover, 1995), with a new cover.

This wonderful book does not include patterns, so you will also want Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses, my pattern book about the most famous of Lucy Boston's designs. Save on postage by ordering both at the same time.
All of Lucy Boston's quilts were made with English Paper Piecing, but the shapes for many of them are available in Inklingo collections. For a list, please see the main Lucy Boston page.
Check the Index of Shapes (under the Support tab) to see what shapes and sizes are available.
