Inklingo Index of Shapes

I finally updated the Inklingo Index of Shapes yesterday, adding the new shapes and sizes in the Feathered Star Shape Collections.

That’s one New Year’s Resolution kept, so far.

The Index of Shapes is good for two things:

  • finding out which shapes are available, and in which “shape collections”
  • finding out which shapes aren’t available yet—so you can ask for them!

Good things to know about the Inklingo Index of Shapes:

  • It is under the Support tab on the Inklingo web site.
(That is where we “hide” all of the good stuff.)
  • Cathi Godwin, a good friend and Inklingoist, also prepares a PDF version of the Index of Shapes. She is usually faster to update than I am when a new shape collection is published.
  • There are so many shapes that we divided it into sections.

Hexagons

Diamonds

Triangles

Polygons

Shapes with Curves

Appliqué

IT’S REALLY HANDY

Monkey and I used the Index of Shapes today to look up the shape collections which have a two-inch Half Square Triangle (HST). We needed to know because Barbara Brackman has started a new blog with a new 8 inch Civil War block every week. What a great way to start the new year! 2011 is the sesquicentennial of the beginning of the Civil War. (1861 + 150 = 2011)

MY LITTLE CONNECTION TO THE CIVIL WAR

Speaking of the 1860s, I had a lovely evening with one of my sisters and  a  cousin this week because of an interest in genealogy. Our common ancestors are our great-grandparents, who were born in 1866 and 1867, immediately after the war. They were born in Canada, but my great-grandfather’s first names were Abraham Lincoln, and his brothers were named George Washington, and Benjamin Franklin! Their mother was from a family in New York.

Barbara’s first Civil War block is inklingoable—print, layer, stitch, and cut— so I figured out the custom page sizes to print and sent them to the Inklingo Yahoo group. I hope you will join us in 2011—that’s now! Pick a light, medium, and dark, and let’s do it!

Happy New Year!

Linda & Monkey

PS There’s a Search feature for the blog archives above the header, if you’re looking for something else.

New to Inklingo? Order and download free shapes and start sewing in the next few minutes. Quick Start  (Always FREE.) There are triangles diamonds and squares  in the free collection—great for dozens of different blocks.

  1. Thanks for the frequent updates of the Shapes…it would be nice if I didn’t have to reprint all the pages when you update each time. I will look into Cathi’s PFD and see if that would work without as much reprinting of the Index
Thanks so much for all you and Monkey do to keep improving and updating Inklingo and it’s many uses!
